Tell me about where you are from and a little bit about what you do?
I would describe myself as a Company director who specializes in Insurance consultancy and outsourcing. Whilst I enjoy a very high level of success being based in the UK, for long time I felt that the US offered even greater opportunities both professionally and personally.
Why do you want to live in America? What’s so special about America?
My main motivation was that America seemed to offer a higher quality and standard of life for my family. I’m married with 2 boys who are 5 & 6. Living in London certainly has it’s charms, buzz and excitement and I loved working in that environment but at some point, like many people, you reach that stage where you feel like you’d like a complete change of lifestyle.
After some careful research and planning I decided that Champaign, Illinois would be a great place to take my family to the next level.
I knew relocating to the US was not going to be as simple as hopping on a plane and working, quite the contrary. I was certain that there would be a lot of red tape and I’d have to plough my way through as I explored all of the visa options. My goal was to find one that gave my family and I the long term security we’d need. I was recommended to the Law Offices of Chris M. Ingram by a friend who was also looking to relocate but had not done so yet. They had done a lot a research and had decided that this law firm was the best one. Nevertheless, it was important to me that I still talked to other lawyers and compare what each of them had to say.
What was your visa choice and how did you come to that decision?
I guess it was Chris’ advice and passion that really stood out for me. I wanted a clear no-nonsense path and Chris presented the EB1 green card for Aliens of Extraordinary Ability. I had no idea how I might qualify for this ‘super visa’. Chris and I discussed all of my accomplishments, some of which I had quite honestly forgotten at first, and he made the call that the EB1 green card was my best option and that I would qualify, then it was down to me to pull the trigger. I did.
How would you describe your experience in working with us?
One thing I would say is that working with a law firm with an eight-hour time difference is quite interesting, but once we got the rules around working together sorted, it worked very well. The Law firm has an online case management platform that allowed me to upload my documentation as it became available and then they would review it during their time zone.
What were you doing when you found out you were approved? What was your immediate reaction? How did/will you celebrate?
When I got the news that my case had been approved I was over the moon – we couldn’t believe it. Deep down we knew that the Law Offices of Chris M. Ingram would get us over the line, they have a great team that work well together.
The processing of the entire case from start to receiving our Green Cards took longer than expected due to the various branches of US Immigration we had to go through, but the most important thing is that we got the right result in the end.
We’ve just got back from our Embassy interview where our green cards will now be stamped into our passports and then our actual plastic green cards will be mailed to our new address. Wow! its finally real, so here we go!!!!
